This 2 sided pattern finishes at a nice lap size of 68” x 68”.  This quilt is a great stash buster if you have some full yardage just waiting to be used for a special and fun project.  I’ve used 1 yard each of 4 different colours, plus 2 yards of a background. For the Canadians among us, the colour palette selected is a nod to our iconic Hudson Bay wool blankets and colour scheme. As you may know, the blankets were a form of currency and traded between the Native Americans and trappers for beaver pelts. What is not as commonly known is the reason for the 2, 3 or 4 black strips woven in a Hudson Bay wool blanket. They are called points and were incorporated in the design so that it was easily known what size it was while keeping it in a folded state. A blanket with 4 strips (points) would be 72” x 90”.  A blanket with 3 1/2 strips would measure 63” x 81”. A half point measures 32” x 46” - a nice crib size!  Interesting isn’t it? So my quilt pattern is technically a 3 1/2 points size blanket, but I’ll take some creative license and call it 4! I also think it’s a fitting name to wrap up my debut collection of quilt patterns all named with the word point in them. Thank you for visiting my website!
